In this video, I’m showing you how I protect basement floors from moisture using DMX 1-Step 2.0 and why water underneath your floor isn’t the disaster most people think it is.
A lot of homeowners worry about moisture in the basement ruining their flooring. The truth is, you’re not trying to stop water completely, you’re managing it properly.
This underlayment works like a hybrid subfloor. If water gets in, it doesn’t sit against your flooring. Instead, it moves underneath the membrane, displacing air and keeping the top surface dry, even if the underside is soaking wet.

Here’s what’s actually happening:
The dimpled design creates air channels that allow airflow in every direction
These channels stay consistent across the entire floor, including seams and joints
As water enters, it pushes air out and flows underneath the system—not into your flooring
The result is a dry, protected surface layer, even in moisture-prone environments like basements
During installation, we use vapor tape to lock everything together. That gives you both a vapor barrier and continuous airflow, which is key to making the system work long-term.
If you’re finishing a basement or installing flooring over concrete, this is the difference between a floor that lasts—and one that gets destroyed by moisture.
