DIY Bat House and Bat Exclusion

I discovered that I had bats living in the exterior wall of my house, so I kicked them out and made them their own house to live in! Bats are great to have around your yard, especially because they keep the mosquito population under control. It’s illegal to kill bats, so you have to humanely get them to leave their roost. I bought a couple of Bat Valves online, a genius invention that allows the bats to leave their roost but not return. The Bat Valves were $50 each. The cost of hiring an exterminator to get rid of bats can be hundreds or even thousands of dollars. I made the bat house from 1×12 and 1×6 pine, with a maple top. The gap for bats to enter at the bottom is 3/4”.
